Agenda What is the Solutions Sharing Network Program? How are we trying to align program with Federal Government: Why InfoPath? IT Solutions Sharing in Public Sector The SSN Program Pillars Content Aims Community Aims Hosting Aims Did you know? Suggested Approach

Presentation Objective In principle agreement to explore how MS and Federal Government can collaborate on the generation on reusable eForms.

IT Solutions Sharing in Public Sector Public Sector customers want to be able to share experiences, expertise and content. Pockets of expertise – not being utilized effectively …and when expertise walks out the door, key knowledge is often lost Great solutions – not being reused effectively …and budgets are not growing A lot of customers want insight/collaboration from Microsoft …because we have breadth of experience and contacts …because we have a global perspective

The Solution Sharing Network Program Drive Information Technology solutions and best practice sharing within Public Sector technical communities Content Communities Portal Research Key element for government that will drive reuse and inspire new ideas The energy that generates content – leadership, common purpose, new connections A solution that can join communities and content How can all of this be made more effective?

Aligning the SSN Program Support the collaborative development of reusable Forms in Microsoft InfoPath.

Why InfoPath XML based at the core. Offline Capability Extensible – forms can be tailored on the fly based on responses Understands Web Services natively

Content Aims Build an impactful set of InfoPath forms that will: Provide more choice for US Citizens, Businesses, Gov Departments. Drive XML as a key entry point to government. Inspire a community of form developers. Enable US to make progress against Internal Efficiency and Effectiveness objectives.

Did you know? The license coverage for InfoPath today in US government is substantial because many government agencies have usage rights via Enterprise Agreements We want to better demonstrate the value of what you already own. In future your options will become more flexible: Office Forms Server - no requirement for InfoPath on every desktop

Approach Identify organizations/forms /usage scenarios to target for building in InfoPath Focus on specific agencies Focus on citizen-centric forms OR internal government usage forms Etc. Identify Community of potential form authors/standards/schema contributors Closely collaborate upfront, or provide converted forms for review? Identify Partner to collaborate with author community on production of forms – what should their role be? Implement forms. Upload forms to www.forms.gov. www.forms.gov
