3. Animals are an expression of Gods love.
God loves all of the animals of His creation.
Animals are important to God
and often animals are instruments of God’s plan.
Let’s explore a few examples:

4. On the 5th Day of Creation, God created living creatures of the oceans
and birds of the skies,
God blessed them and saw that it was good.

5. On the 6th Day of Creation God created first the animals
and then created man
and God saw that it was very good.

6. God loves all of His Creation.
“All the animals in the forest are Mine
and the cattle on thousands of hills.
All the wild birds are Mine
and all living in the fields.”
Psalm 50:10-11

7. Man was created only after God created the creatures of the sea,
the birds of the skies, and the animals
of the land.
This should give us some humility.

Animals were saved from the flood
and were made a part of the covenant with Noah.

all those that came out of the ark with you—
every living creature on earth.”
Genesis 9:9-10

10. Think of how much smaller the Noah’s Ark could have been if it hadn’t been for all of the animals?

11. to be instruments of His will, God sends prophets and disciples
God often uses animals
to be instruments of His will,
similar to the way
God sends prophets and disciples
to do His will.

12. The paschal lamb reminds us of the Passover sacrifice and the deliverance from Egypt.

(The Bible never actually calls it a whale.)

his donkey could see the Angel of the Lord,

Before the Angel of the Lord told the shepherds, the caregivers for the animals
in the fields about the birth of Jesus…

were there waiting to receive their King, Baby Jesus.
The animals were there before we were!

20. Animals are very important in God’s Kingdom!

21. We celebrate Palm Sunday when Jesus
rode into Jerusalem riding meekly on a donkey.

22. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets
and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to
gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks
under her wings, but you were not willing.
Matthew 23:37

23. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep!
See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
the Root of David,

Animals are included in the repentance enjoined on humans
(Jonah 3:7) and animals share in Christ’s redemption
of all of God’s creation.

30. “This plan, which God will complete when the time is right,

everything in heaven and on earth,
with Christ as head.”

31. Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it;
let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them.
Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy;
they will sing before the lord, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness
and the peoples in his truth.
