2
The Station This fire sparked on the night of 2/20/03. A band was playing and they used pyrotechnics which caught the sound proofing materials on fire. The building had no sprinkler system.
3
The Station Many bodies were burned and can not be found or can not be identified. All this changed the lives not only the people in the fire but the families as well. Many people escaped but many others died and were severely injured.
4
suggestion We would recommend a sprinkler system. After watching a video of how a sprinkler system would have put out the fire or at least control it until fire fighters could get there.
5
Hurricane Katrina Monday august 29,2005 Katrina struck the Louisiana coast. But before it struck the coast the Louisiana residents had plenty of warning time to leave the state. Most left but some stayed.
6
Hurricane Katrina When the hurricane was still developing it was close to the Bahamas and was heading straight for Miami. But the storm was still weak. It passed over Miami and became stronger as it trudged over the gulf coast. As it went over the gulf coast it built up speed and aggression. Hitting New Orleans strong causing some major damage.
7
Suggestion Maybe there should be better evacuation routes or wider highways just for evacuation.
8
Coconut Grove Within 5 minutes the whole basement of the Club was on fire. Within another 5 minutes the first floor was on fire. Many people died because the exit doors were bricked up or bolted shut, the only way out was the main entrance was a revolving door.
9
Suggestion Installation of automatic sprinklers. Prohibition use of the basement. Requirement of defined aisle space between tables. Exit doors have to be marked by illuminated “EXIT” signs.
10
Hurricane Andrew When the hurricane started it started out as a tropical wave on the west coast of Africa. It lasted from August 14 th – 23 rd. It hit the Bahamas, Florida, and Louisiana. It was a Category 4 hurricane.
11
Suggestion Earlier evacuation and better ways to evacuate people.
