Language Objective: We will write complete sentences using the modals can, might, may, and must (have to, ought to, shall) in three forms: declarative negative Interrogative.

Application (Why?) We use modals before the verb to add a very specific meaning to the verb.

The storm might cause the power to go out.

Example: Negative - Subject + modal + not + verb + finisher.
Children must not play outside during lightning storms.

Interrogative ? Future: Modal + subject + verb+ finisher? Example: May the students walk home in the rain if they use their umbrellas?
