2 Workshop Objectives Clarify the role of the CV in UME processes Provide perspective on CV development Provide overview of Curriculum Vitae template Share approaches for completing key sections of the CV Provide resources for future use as the CV is developed and updated

3 3 Curriculum Vitae…. Presents a portrait of your accomplishments in the most concise manner possible Represents your entire UM faculty & Extension career and previous relevant work Will evolve over time to reflect key components May look different for AFR and APT purposes

4 Guiding Principles UMD Template as Foundation Integrity of Content Clarity of Message Concise and Succinct No Duplication Accurately Reflects Breadth, Depth, and Quality of your Work

5 How CV is Used Annual Faculty Review (AFR) –Requires CV, with emphasis on calendasr year under review. –Details for review year should be provided; check with Program Leader for specifics Tenure Package Submission (APT) –CV serves as foundation of tenure package, with major emphasis on five year accomplishments in scholarship, teaching, and service.

6 6 Accomplishments in Three Major Areas Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Teaching, Mentoring and Advising Service

7 7 Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Creative, intellectual work that is communicated and validated by peers. Scholarly work meets these five criteria: –Created –Integrated –Applied –Validated –Adopted

8 8 Teaching, Mentoring, Advising Classes and workshops taught Formal mentoring telationships Supervision of others, including program assistants, volunteers, graduate students, interns One Section for Extension Programs!

9 9 Service Service to UME, AGNR, the University, professional organizations and local work in your community. It is important to identify your specific role with each service entry (i.e. secretary, chair, etc.), as well as the years served

14 APT CV Your Extension Programs serve as the foundation for your CV Scholarly work should grow and evolve out of your programs Be sure CV is reflective of your program, your work, and what has been accomplished.

15 AFR CV Provide details for year under review –Within CV or –As a brief appendix Highlight current year info Outline connections between IEP and TEP Goals, Impact Team Contributions, and UME Strategic Plan in Extension section Clearly indicate progress made toward planned outcomes in IEP in Extension section
