Industrial Technologies Program Sample opening to course
2
Quick PEP The Quick Plant Energy Profiler (Quick PEP) is designed to help you understand how your industrial plant is using energy and what you can do to begin saving energy and money now.
3
Quick PEP This software tool helps to quickly “diagnose” energy use and begin identifying opportunities for savings by providing an overview of the amount of energy that your plant purchases and generates, identifying the major industrial systems that consume energy,
4
Quick PEP describing your plant’s savings potential, and pointing out some specific resources you can use to realize savings. This is a road map that directs you to specific, targeted ways to save energy and money at your plant.

Quick PEP To be continued...

Northampton Community College (NCC) and the Department of Energy (DOE) have partnered to deliver online training courses in Energy Savings software which gathers and sorts data to diagnose and identify opportunities for savings.
7
The goal of the partnership is to provide world-class distance learning courses delivered online to more participants with more results. The goal of the program is to provide distance learning alternatives to the face-to-face courses that the DOE currently offers.
8
The Industrial Technologies Program works with U.S. industry to improve Industrial Energy Efficiency and Environmental Performance.
9
Software tools are the 21st century diagnostics for data that encourages changes in the way we identify and analyze energy systems savings.
10
The online courses provide software training to achieve the following goals: Identification and understanding of the major industrial systems that consume energy, Describe a plant’s savings potential, and Present specific resources and tools you can use to realize savings.
11
NCC will provide online visual and auditory training to help guide the learner through a user-directed, self-paced, positive software training experience.
12
NCC will offer the following online training courses: 1.Quick Plant Energy Profiler 2.Steam System Tool Suite 3.3E Plus 4.AIRMaster 5.Chilled Water System Analysis Tool 6.Combined Heat and Power Application Tool
13
Best Practices for Online Learning Our goal is to replicate learning objectives, provide visual and auditory help and guide the learner through a self-paced, user- directed positive training environment.
14
9 Steps of Instruction - Gagne 1). Engage the learner immediately through video or audio that gains their attention. 2.) Offer clear objectives for the learner to achieve once the module is done. Provide an explanation of the “destination” and what is to be learned.
15
9 Steps of Instruction - Gagne 3). Stimulate recall of prior information. Offer reminders of what was learned and achieved. Link learned skills and concepts to the training to come.
16
9 Steps of Instruction - Gagne 4). Present information to be learned 5). Provide guidance/help 6). Elicit performance
17
9 Steps of Instruction - Gagne 7). Provide feedback 8). Assess performance 9). Enhance retention
18
The first step in instruction, especially computer-based, single learner-focused training, is to gain the learner’s attention. The key is to maintain the learner’s attention by balancing boredom and over-stimulation.
19
My objective is to develop courses for energy professionals which provide learning through: relevance of the topic, confidence in applying knowledge, and satisfaction in accomplishing the task.
