In the Bible, the prodigal son feels ashamed when he returns home because he has spend all of his father's money. Qin Xiaoyong also felt guilty when he return home. He also felt like he had not been a good son because he didn’t write to his parents very often.

2)Who is scrooge? When Qin Xiaoyong says that he is a bit of a Scrooge, what does he means? A Scrooge is a character from the book Christmas Carol who was known for his lack of generosity. He means that he does not like to spend a lot of money.

3) Have you heard the person, Mother Teresa? What do know about her? She was a nun who helped poor people in India. When we say someone is a Mother Teresa, what kind of person are we describing? A kind of person who always thinks of others before themselves.

When we refer to words or phrases like these to talk about another person or thing, we are using allusion. Now read the guidelines of this section on Page56 to know what an allusion is. An allusion is a way of making an indirect reference to stimulate ideas and associations with other things.
