Why are we doing this? Dissatisfaction with Local Neighbourhood Partnerships (LNPs) Review of LNPs Independent consultant report Good practice elsewhere Walsall is the 2 nd worst metropolitan council for people believing they can influence decisions

What are we doing? A radical change in how we engage Clustering in geographical areas that fit – places people identify with and partners operate in A partnership approach Empowering local structures Communicating with our customers Creating clear responsibility and accountability

The Area Manager Salary £40k Accountable for results in an area Employed by partners, not just the council Reports to Director for Walsall Partnership

The Areas Walsall divided into 6 areas All partners’ structures work in all 6 areas Focus in a Neighbourhood / hotspot

Improving Engagement Aim: all front line workers are engagement officers A referral hub Taking the meeting to the people Engagement on door steps, at schools, supermarkets etc.

Community Meetings At least 4 per year in each one Led by councillors Develop an area plan Holds partners accountable to the plan Has influence over resources (Total Plan)

Partner Meetings Mini LSPs Meet once per month Partners appropriate to need Area Tasking

Places of Focus Meeting once per week Virtual team of partners Plan to solve a local problem within 1-3 years

Task What changes do we need in my organisation or team to adapt to and maximise the opportunity of neighbourhood management? What changes do I need to make to my work to respond to customers through Neighbourhood Management?
