1 Assessment Updates

2 FSA Writing Major change to the Writing Rubrics for Secondary:
Students must cite evidence in order to receive a score point of 3 in Evidence and Elaboration. FSA Scoring: Since it is a graduation requirement, 10th grade is the only grade that will be scored by two human graders. All other grades, except 4th, will be scored by a human and Artificial Intelligence (AI, computer). When there is a discrepancy in scoring larger than one point, the score goes to the human score.

3 FSA Updates Know your standards!
Example of Standard Interpretation- 3.7 ("multi-media" compare/contrast standard) does not have to be audio, video, etc. There will be no video on the FSA yet, but there could be poetry and prose as different mediums. If students are asked to give multiple answers, the number would be bold. Example- With which two sentences would the author agree? The Open Responses in ELA FSA should be between 3-5 sentences. An introductory sentence is not required for this response. Editing Task with Choices or Editing Tasks- Students need must understand if they are choosing "no correction needed," they must actually click that in order to move to the next item. Students can replay multimedia items as many times as needed.

4 FSA Math Updates: Calculators
Graphing calculators will not be used on FSA Math EOCs. (Algebra 1, Geometry, & Algebra 2) Scientific calculator will be used on all FSA math assessments grades 7 and up. The scientific calculators is available for Sessions 2 and 3 of the Grades 7-8 test and for Session 2 of all EOCs Handheld scientific calculators may be provided to ALL students during the calculator-allowed session(s). FDOE will NOT provide a list of approved handheld calculators for FSA tests. They will provide a list of allowable and not-allowable functionalities for the scientific calculator.

5 FSA Math Updates: Item Types
Natural Language Response – Responses do not have to be grammatically correct including spelling. Student response should be clear and concise. Multi-Select Responses- Responses will consist of at least 2 or more choices. All multi-select and drag and drop responses are worth 1 point. There is no partial credit.

Conversions will be provided in a pop-up window for the grades CBT and as a conversion sheet for grade 4. 9 Training Test FSA training tests will be updated and released this month. The draft Mathematics Policy document that is posted to the FSA Portal will be updated this month to reflect the new information.

10 SAT Common Prompt Information
In the essay, students are asked to write a clear response based on the comprehension and analysis of a source text, supporting their claims and points about the text with evidence drawn from the passage. While the source text will be different for each form of the SAT, the prompt will be largely consistent in format and wording across administrations.

As you read the passage below, consider how [the author] uses Evidence, such as facts or examples, to support claims. Reasoning to develop ideas and to connect claims and evidence. Stylistic or persuasive elements, such as word choice or appeals to emotion, to add power to the ideas expressed. ____________________________________________________ Write an essay in which you explain how [the author] builds an argument to persuade [his/her] audience that [author’s claim]. In your essay, analyze how [the author] uses one or more of the features listed above (or features of your own choice) to strengthen the logic and persuasiveness of [his/her] argument.
