Standard AS/NZS 3012:2003 Applies to all construction & demolition sites.

4 Key points - AS/NZS 3012:2003 Support of cables entering switchboards –’flexible’. All final sub-circuits protected by 30mA RCD’s. Construction wiring must be separate to perm wiring. Minimum flexible cord size 1.00mm2 Leads – Protect from mechanical damage. – Supported off the floor.

5 Lighting Festoon lamps Non-conductive, mechanical guard.
Lampholder permanently moulded to cable. Non-conductive, mechanical guard. Supported at least 2.5m from the floor.

6 Lighting - portable Must have a rating of IP2X or higher.
Portable lamps Must have a rating of IP2X or higher.

7 Inspections Testing & Tagging Prior to initial service
Where new, supplier to test & tag. Before return to service after servicing or repair. Can use an individual tag or register. Competent person can carry out testing & tagging. Only a registered person with a current practicing license can carry out electrical repairs.

8 Testing & Tagging Table 2 3 Monthly – Portable equipment.
RCD’s – trip test daily before use. (portable gear) – monthly (fixed). RCD’s testing every: – 3 months portable. – 12 months fixed.

9 Require Certificate of compliance on completion of installation.
Testing & Tagging Sheds & switchboards. Require Certificate of compliance on completion of installation.

10 Testing & Tagging - continued
Testing & tagging – visual inspections. All electrical devices made to AS/NZS 3105 do not comply with AS/NZS 3012:2003.
