The Xavier University College of Agriculture is one with Xavier University as a Filipino, Catholic and Jesuit institution in its Mission Statement towards the Vision-Mission “integral development of the person for the needs of Mindanao and country” and “ to form men and women of competence, conscience and commitment in service of the Church and the Filipino people”.

Its curricula include a distinctive combination of actual field work in technical subjects and the liberal arts formation characteristic of a Jesuit school. The Aggie College has a fourfold mission of: It strives to produce graduates with sound academic, spiritual, and moral foundation in order for them to become “men and women for others“. 1. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) Major in Crop Science Started in 1953 A four-year program which includes basic agricultural courses such as: soil science genetics plant breeding plant physiology cereals and other elective subjects on plantation and ornamental crops.

Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness (BSAB) Starts First Semester, SY 2002-2003. A four-year program which includes: Application of principles in management, financing and marketing in agricultural business Sustainable development concept on agricultural business Laws in business; Research in business

Bachelor of Science in Food Technology (BSFT) Started in 1978 A four-year program with curriculum includes: Fundamental course in chemistry, microbiology, and mathematics food microbiology food chemistry food processing food process management post harvest and handling food marketing

Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDC) Started in 1978 A four-year program with two major concentrations: Core subjects include introductory courses in: Development journalism Educational communication development communication community broadcasting development journalism interpersonal communication audio visual production theater and folk media management and research in communication

Undergraduate Scholarships XUCA offers scholarships/grants-in-aid to academically qualified but with financial difficulties students through its Undergraduate Scholarships/ Grants-in-Aid Program. Three types of grants are the following: > full tuition with allowance > full tuition w/o allowance > half tuition w/o allowance

Undergraduate Scholarships The main criteria in the selection are: academic qualifications and financial status. The scholarship program wants to develop service-oriented scholars hence they are required to render service duty ranging from 36 – 60 hours per semester depending on the type of grant availed.

The St. Francis Xavier Scholarship Grant A total of 15 full scholarships and 30 half scholarships for school year are available for First Year enrollees of BS Agribusiness, BS food Technology and BS Agriculture courses. Selection criteria are based on academic merit, leadership qualities and financial need. Undergraduate Scholarships

The Social Apostolate of the College of Agriculture Complex Objectives As an integrated program of education, organization and mobilization, it empowers the base social groups such as small farmers and the rural poor and envisions that these base social groups can participate in a wider decision making process

Established in 1999. Conducts research and extension activities with farm cooperators on sustainable farming systems. The Sustainable Agriculture Center (SAC)

The Appropriate Technology Center (ATC) Established in 1983. Conducts short-term training courses on methods of appropriate technology. Produced various prototypes of farm tools, equipment, and small machinery.

The Food Technology Center (FTC) Established in 1987. Conducts short-term courses in food processing to interested housewives and other groups as well as to rural communities.

Mindanao Support and Communication Center for Agrarian Reform and Rural Development (MINCARRD) Established in 1988. Engages in research and studies on Agrarian Reform and its implementation. Engages in studies on other rural development issues like peace process, environment and sustainable development. Conducts training on the same issues. Engages in policy advocacy on the same issues.

The Year of Service (YOS) Program Established in 1987. The program is for college graduates who would volunteer to work with a rural community for a year. Batches of volunteers have been assigned to work in various places in Mindanao.

The Cooperative Business Institute (CBI) Established in 1999 by co-partners, namely: SEARSOLIN, the Cooperative Development Authority, the coop sectors of Northern Mindanao and the Livelihood Enhancement for Agricultural Development, Inc. Provides training, research and educational publications to upgrade the business and professional skills of cooperatives and their leaders in the Region.

Established in 1997 as a project co-funded by the European Union Commission. Provides research, training and educational materials on urban natural resources management and food production. The Periurban Vegetable Project (PUVeP)
