2. 2. Diesel Engine – an engine in which air is squeezed to very high pressure and very high temperature inside the cylinder, diesel fuel is injected and spontaneous ignition occurs.

3. 3. Electric Motor – a machine that changes electrical energy into mechanical energy

6. 6. Fuel Cell- a type of vehicle that mixes hydrogen from an on- board tank with oxygen from the air to power electric motors for turning the wheels.

10. 10. Jet Engine- an engine that sucks in air at the front, squeezes it, mixes it with fuel, and ignites it; this creates a strong blast of hot gases that rush out of the back of the engine at great speed.

15. 15. Turbine- an energy converter that includes a large wheel with blades turned by water, a jet of steam, or hot gases.

16. 16. Turbofan- a type of jet engine in which the gas stream drives a large fan located at the front of the engine. Thrust is as great as a simple jet but the engine is quieter.

17. 17. Turboshaft- an engine that uses a stream of gases to drive turbine blades connected to a shaft which, in turn, is connected to rotors or propellers.
