United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific MCED 2000 Held in Kitakyushu, Japan from 31 August to 5 September 2000, with the participation of 31 Ministers from 61 ESCAP member and associate members Ministerial Declaration Regional Message to Rio + 10 Regional Action Programme 2001-2005 National/subregional/ regional actions in priority areas, including environmental quality and human health, among others Kitakyushu Initiative Mechanism for the priority implementation of RAP 2001-2005, with specific focus on environmental quality and human health in urban areas. Documentation adopted

Priority implementation mechanism for the UNESCAP Regional Action Programme 2001-2005, with specific focus on environmental quality and human health in urban areas. WSSD type I activity adopted in August 2002 Achieve measurable progress through local initiatives targeting control of air and water pollution, and minimization of all kinds of wastes, through selected technical, institutional, regulatory and participatory measures.
