Advantages Creates promotion opportunities within business and helps develop career pathways for individual employees Creates a greater pool of potential applicants Promotion creates improved morale for individual employees New employees bring new or fresh ideas into the business Recruitment is less expensive New employees can be used as a catalyst to bring about change in the business May result in increased individual commitment by employees The applicant is already familiar with organisational culture and procedures An external applicant is more likely to have the required skills and can step straight into the position with little training

Disadvantages Poor attitudes and work habits from the past may continue in the new position Recruitment costs may be higher due to external advertising There is likely to be a limited number of potential applicants May impact negatively on existing employees Outside employees may not fit the culture of the business The person may turn out to be unsuitable for the position

Using Seek or other online recruitment search engines find three job advertisement and answer the questions 1 – 3 If not completed before end of the lesson it needs to be completed for homework and to me before next lesson.

ACTIVITY 8.3 Search the internet using Seek or other online recruitment search engines and collect three examples of job advertisements. Use these advertisements to complete the following tasks 1. Identify the job advertisements that, in your opinion, create a good impression of the business. Underline or highlight particular aspects of each advertisement that you feel create a good impression of the business.
