Design and manufacture a heat exchanger learning apparatus to provide students with a comprehensive study of heat exchangers and the various parameters that effect their performance. 4

6
Heat exchangers are devices that provide the flow of thermal energy between two or more fluids at different temperatures. Functions Heat a cooler fluid by means of a hotter fluid. Reduce the temperature of a hot fluid by means of a cooler fluid. 6

Heat exchangers are used in a wide variety of applications Transportation Electronics Household National Defense Industry Energy Farm & Fishery Environmental Engineering 8

10
Most educational institutions that offer engineering courses in thermodynamics and who specialize in heat exchangers are only capable of teaching their students the theoretical knowledge. They do not have the necessary equipment to educate them on the various parameters that effect heat exchangers. 10
11
The reason that most educational institutions can’t afford to purchase this type of equipment is because of the financial situation Due to the recession most educational institutions are being subjected to budget cuts 11

Include interchangeable bundles to familiarize students with internal components of a heat exchanger Use computer software to collect and display data Incoming fluid will have a temperature difference ranging from 40°F - 50°F (5°C - 10°C) during the transfer process Provide complete set of working drawings for manufacturing and welding processes 15
