Storage System Lab SKKU 8 Technology Trend – Fibre Channel Fibre Channel provides new levels of Bandwidth, Connectivity, and Flexibility –Switches provide non-blocking 100 MB/sec (1 Gbit/sec) per port with any-to-any connectivity –Long-wave ports provide up to 10 km distance Future Developments: –Large port-count switches (~ 256) –Fibre Channel has grown to 2 Gbit/sec 10 Gbit/sec in 2-3 years
