Babylonian Sumerian Gilgamesh
Flood traditions: a tablet of a Babylonian version of the Sumerian Gilgamesh Epic (by courtesy of the Trustees of the British Museum) Myers, A. C. (1987). Of particular interest to biblical studies are three Mesopotamian cuneiform flood stories. The oldest is a Sumerian version discovered in fragmentary form at Nippur, wherein the pious king Ziusudra responds to the gods’ decision to destroy by flood “the seed of mankind”; he constructs a huge boat which bears him afloat for seven days and nights, after which he sacrifices to the gods and is granted eternal life in the land of Dilmun. A well-preserved version survives in Tablet 11 of the Sumerian Gilgamesh Epic This epic happened during the 2nd millennium, Urnapishtim was man saved, there are similarities in the story. Matthew 24:37-39 37But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. People were going about normal life ignoring the signs of approaching judgment until it was to late. Then they were taken in judgment, leaving only Noah and his family. This, according to Yeshua will be the case when His return approaches – people will ignore the signs of coming judgment until it will be too late. Then the Lord will take them in judgment, saving only the believers. What were the signs of coming judgment in Noah’s day? Methuselah (his death shall bring judgment) died. That should have been a sign. Perhaps the whole earth was being wicked or everyone turning from God, or the fallen angels. However the biggest sign was Noah and his family building the ark.

People in the end times will also miss the signs
People in the end times will also miss the signs. The signs will probably be huge and people will not be able to see or understand them, just as in the days of Noah. The apostasy of the church, all of Olivet Discourse, warnings from prophets,

Genesis 8:1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged; Many people ask does God believe in capitol punishment? Ans. Gen 9 but I would say after reading this story he leans that way! This does not mean God had forgotten. When God remembers, it means that he is about to act on his promise (cf. Exod. 2:24). Ramban: The remembrance of Noah was because he was a perfectly righteous man, and He had made a covenant with him to save him. The word “Noah here includes his children that were there with him. Scripture did not mention them specifically, though, for they were saved.
7
Genesis 8:1 “God Remembered Noah” He remembered the
“living things” with Noah Animals and mankind are made of the same physical stuff: dust Both have the Life Spirit Man slightly above the animals Rabbinical thought that it must have grieved God Terribly to have his judgment on man, however the grief must have also been for the animals also. They were an important part of His creation. We should have a deep respect for the animals.

Ruach: The Rushing Wind
Holy Spirit = Ruach Hakodesh Ruach often used to speak of God’s Spirit As the water rose for 150 days, so it receded for 150 days The Wind Sent by God is the Holy Spirit; Ambrose: There is no doubt, therefore, that that deluge was subsided by the invisible power of the Spirit, not through the wind as such but through divine intervention.
9
Genesis 8:2-3 2The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; 3And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. Two sources of the water were stopped, the “fountains of the deep” and “the windows of heaven” The “rain from heaven was restrained” hadn’t had rain before the flood, now there will be rain on earth, but it will be restrained. Not real sure what that means, but must have been a relief to Noah and his family and following generations when they would see the rain, to know it was not going to be another flood, that the rain would be restrained. We are given the record not only of the building up of the Flood but also of the prevailing and now the ending of the Flood. [returned] The word returned “receded” is the same word used of the waters at the Red Sea and the Jordan River that returned after God’s great works (Ex 14:26; Josh 4:18).

want us to know this very date?
Genesis 8:4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. [And the ark rested] The theme of “rest” seems to be quite strong throughout the story. Why did the Holy Spirit want us to know this very date?
11
The Two Calendars Rosh Hoshana Religious: Nisan (in the Spring)
Civil: Tishri (in the Fall) Rosh Hoshana Religious: Nisan (in the Spring) “This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.” Exodus 12:2 Even today the Jewish people recognize two calendars. The rains came on the seventeenth day of the second month, on the civil or first calendar. The month of Cheshyan or also called Bul around the Oct time frame. However there was a universal climate.

New Beginnings Christ was crucified on the 14th of Nisan;
He was in the grave 3 days Resurrection on the 17th of Nisan (the 7th month of the Genesis Calendar) (the 1st month of the new Religious Calendar) Jesus crucified on Passover Noah’s “new beginning” on earth was on the anniversary – in anticipation – of our “new beginning” in Christ. The Feast of First Fruits – the 17th of Nisan.

Mount Ararat
16
Mountains of Ararat rather the Ararat Mountain Range In modern day
Not Mt. Ararat, rather the Ararat Mountain Range In modern day Turkey Ark rested on 7th month, the 17th day The land of Babylon is almost directly South of Ararat in Turkey.
17
For a reference point I will use Babel, or Babylon in Iraq
For a reference point I will use Babel, or Babylon in Iraq. This is the next place people show up along with an explanation of how they got there.
18
What is obvious here is that Mt. Ararat is directly North of Babel.
19
Genesis 11:1-2 1And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. 2And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. The land of Babylon is almost directly South of Ararat in Turkey. This could be a hint of the arks location. Shinar would be like the name of the area that Babylon was in. Babylon would be a city in the county of Shinar.
21
Mount Suleiman in the Alborz Mountains in Iran
23
Genesis 8:5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. This would have been the 1st of Tammuz, around the month of July as we know it.
24
Genesis 8:6-7 6And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: 7And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth. The month of Av or Aug time frame. Unlike pigeons or doves, which will return after being released, a raven’s use to seamen is based on its line of flight. By noting the direction it chooses, a sailor may determine where land is located.
25
Genesis 8:8-9 8Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see
if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; 9But the dove found no rest for the Sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. The dove and the pigeon have a limited ability for sustained flight. Thus navigators use them to determine the location of landing sites. As long as they return, no landing is in close range. The dove lives at lower elevations and requires plants for food
26
Genesis 8:10-12 10And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; 11And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. 12And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more. The olive leaf is a potent symbol of peace and restoration.
27
2nd month would have been Cheshvan AKA Bul October time frame.

Genesis 8:13-14 13And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. 14And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried. [the first day of the month] On the first day of the first month: 1. The flood ended (Genesis 8:13). 2. The tabernacle was set up (Exodus 40:2). 3. The temple was sanctified (2 Chron. 29:17). 4. The captives returned (Ezra 7:9). 5. Jews separated from strange wives (Ezra 10:17). 6. The sanctuary will be cleansed (Ezekiel 45:18). Verse 14 is the 27th of Cheshvan - October
39
The Land Dries Raven sent out 1st (an unclean bird)
Later a dove, came back with olive tree twig Another dove sent out, didn’t return Olive trees will actually leaf-out under water! 1st day of 1st month = New Year 2nd month, 27th day, could leave the Ark
40
Genesis 8:15-16 Rashi explains of the miracles in which Noah lived on the ark and From this information alone, Rashi left the reader to conclude that the entire organization of animals within the ark continued in the same miraculous fashion in which it had begun, which explains why the animals did not attack each other. Thus, in effect, Noach and his family enjoyed in the ark a taste of the Messianic era when animals will co-exist in peace, Isaiah 11:6-9. The Lord had to tell Noah to leave the ark - A person might be tempted to lock himself away in an “ark” of personal spirituality. The Torah however teaches a follower that he must, “Go out of the ark…” and take responsibility for the world around him 15And God spake unto Noah, saying, 16Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons’ wives with thee.
41
Genesis 8:17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
42
Genesis 8:18-19 18And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him: 19Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark. Order of leaving is different from the order of entering! Some ask if Noah only had three children. It really doesn’t say, he could have had many more that were not saved.
43
Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
44
and The New is Sanctified
The Old is Purified, and The New is Sanctified Only through death, does new life come Altar sacrifice as Noah’s first act Each species of clean animal was sacrificed If only one pair of clean animals had been brought, or if any unclean animals were sacrificed extinction would have been the result
45
the Unclean Animals Serve?
What Purpose did the Unclean Animals Serve? Several varieties of unclean animals were scavengers Universe operates under the Principle of Opposites Can be no clean unless there is unclean Unclean animals not bad or worse, or of less importance
46
Genesis 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
47
“What Forms in the Heart is Evil From its Youth…”
Noah’s sacrifice was accepted World never again to be destroyed by flood Human heart is evil Satan does not Create Evil! He uses man’s evil inclination by deceiving and lying
48
From His Awakening mine’araw means “from his awakening”
The point at which a human has “awareness” Heart is not 100% evil All humans born with good inclination and evil inclination
49
Genesis 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

Modern Noah's Ark Built by Dutch creationist Johan Huibers as a testament to his faith in the literal truth of the Bible. Reckoning by the old biblical measurements, Johan's fully functional ark is 150 cubits long, 30 cubits high and 20 cubits wide. That's two-thirds the length of a football field and as high as a three-story house. SCHAGEN, Netherlands
51
Modern Noah's Ark Noah's Ark as described in the Bible was five times larger than Johan's Ark.
53
Garden of Eden gone after

Noah Was The New Adam We are more closely related to Noah than Adam
Adam created in the “image of God”, Noah created in the “image of Adam” Adam born into perfection, Noah born into imperfection New basis of the world: sin was throughout the world, and in every creature

The company library of the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Co
The company library of the Atlantic Mutual Insurance Co., in New York City has one of the most complete sets of records of marine disasters outside of England. The completeness is so legendary that someone once asked Atlantic if it had a record of Noah’s Ark. In due time the inquirer received this information: “Built 2448 B.C. Gopher wood, pitched within and without. Length, 300 cubits; width, 50 cubits; height, 30 cubits. Three decks. Cattle carrier. Owner: Noah and Sons. Last reported stranded on Mount Ararat.” —New York Herald Tribune
