On page 20, Scout says to Miss Caroline, “Miss Caroline, he’s a Cunningham.” Explain fully this brief but awkward moment in the classroom for Miss Caroline, Walter Cunningham and Scout. What does it tell the reader about Maycomb, about the characters and about a child’s understanding of social rules.

#3- Chapter Three In chapter 3, Atticus attempts to deal with some of the issues Scout has had at school that day, particularly her desire not to go back. On page 30, Atticus talks to Scout about putting herself in another person’s shoes – being empathetic. Copy and cite the quote, then explain why he does this and whether you think he reached Scout and made her understand Ms. Caroline [ and maybe Walter, too? ] a bit better.
