2  Write down the date that you entered the teaching/school/therapy profession.  Not the date of course completion, the date you started employment/volunteering in a school.

3  Divide into groups of 4/5 and discuss the following points.

4  What was an item of technology used in the school at that time?

5  Is that technology still used today?  How has that technology improved the learning and communication for both staff and/or students ?

6  Did your discussions lead to further reflection?

7  Bachelor of Education – majoring in  Physical Education for the Disabled (Handicapped) and Health  Dance

8  Taught PE, Health Ed and Outdoor Ed in Department schools for a few years and took the package in 1993.  Started a business with my husband.

9  1999 at a Independent Catholic Special School.  Commenced a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies at the University of Melbourne in 2000.

10  Head of PE department at an Independent school teaching PE and co- ordinated Year 9 Outdoor Education program.

11  Both classroom teaching and as Health and PE, ICT specialist teacher.

12  2008 Leading for Student Learning a partnership with DEECD and Monash University.

13  2010 Commenced Master of School Leadership at Monash University. I now invite staff to be participants in an Action Research project.

15 What is Action Research?

16 The aim of action research is to answer the question “How can I improve what is happening here?”

17 To challenge and/or confirm our beliefs and assumptions as teachers, ES and therapists

18 To have time to talk and share with colleagues about teaching and student outcomes

19 So staff can focus on what interests them as teachers, ES and therapists at a level appropriate to them

20 To put staff in the ‘learner’ situation where they are also engaged in inquiry

21 To contribute to the knowledge pool in our schools and our profession

29  you are either employed by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) or your employment is at Belmore School

30  Ethics approval has been granted by the DEECD by way of permission from Joan Anson, Principal of Belmore School

31  Should you agree to participate you would be asked to contribute in three ways.

32  you will be allocated 15 minutes to engage in ICT professional learning (PL) over 3 Teacher, ES, Yooralla meetings.

33  ICT surveys which take approximately less than 5 minutes to complete pre and post PL.

34  final component of this research would be to ask you to participate in a brief interview of about 5 -10 minutes so that a more detailed picture of your participation and professional learning can be gauged.

35  With your permission the interview would be video recorded to ensure an accurate record of what you say.  you would be provided with a copy of the transcript so that you can verify the information (the video will be destroyed).  time commitment required of you would not exceed 15 minutes.

36  protect your anonymity and the confidentiality of your responses  final report you will be referred to by a pseudonym  any personal information references will be removed  Data kept securely at Belmore School for five years from the date of publication before being destroyed

37  wish to withdraw at any stage  free to do so without prejudice  to participate, please indicate that you have read and understood this information  signing the accompanying consent form

38  arrange a mutually convenient time for you to complete the interview in term three.
