Bachelor of Education – majoring in Physical Education for the Disabled (Handicapped) and Health Dance

Taught PE, Health Ed and Outdoor Ed in Department schools for a few years and took the package in 1993. Started a business with my husband.

1999 at a Independent Catholic Special School. Commenced a Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies at the University of Melbourne in 2000.

Head of PE department at an Independent school teaching PE and co- ordinated Year 9 Outdoor Education program.

Both classroom teaching and as Health and PE, ICT specialist teacher.

2008 Leading for Student Learning a partnership with DEECD and Monash University.

2010 Commenced Master of School Leadership at Monash University. I now invite staff to be participants in an Action Research project.

What is Action Research?

The aim of action research is to answer the question “How can I improve what is happening here?”

To challenge and/or confirm our beliefs and assumptions as teachers, ES and therapists

To have time to talk and share with colleagues about teaching and student outcomes

So staff can focus on what interests them as teachers, ES and therapists at a level appropriate to them

To put staff in the ‘learner’ situation where they are also engaged in inquiry

To contribute to the knowledge pool in our schools and our profession

Ethics approval has been granted by the DEECD by way of permission from Joan Anson, Principal of Belmore School

Should you agree to participate you would be asked to contribute in three ways.

you will be allocated 15 minutes to engage in ICT professional learning (PL) over 3 Teacher, ES, Yooralla meetings.

ICT surveys which take approximately less than 5 minutes to complete pre and post PL.

final component of this research would be to ask you to participate in a brief interview of about 5 -10 minutes so that a more detailed picture of your participation and professional learning can be gauged.

With your permission the interview would be video recorded to ensure an accurate record of what you say. you would be provided with a copy of the transcript so that you can verify the information (the video will be destroyed). time commitment required of you would not exceed 15 minutes.
