Edward de Bono was born in Malta in 1933. Multiple people think of Dr. Edward de Bono as the leading authority in the field of innovation and creative thinking. He is very well known for many things such as his book Six Thinking Hats. His concept regarding Lateral Thinking is also well known.

He has two sons. He was married twice. Edward de Bono has written 70 books with translations into 40 different languages. He has lectured in 58 countries.

Dr. de Bono’s official name has an M.D, M.A, PH.D, D. Phil, D.DES, LL.D all behind it. That’s a long name! The New University of Advanced Technology in Phoenix, Arizona appointed Edward the Professor of Thinking.

Edward de Bono is a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford and holds a M.A. in psychology and physiology. Ph.D from Cambridge. A Doctor of Design from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. An LL.D. from Dundee.

He holds professorships at the Universities of Pretoria, Dublin City University, Malta, and the University of Central England. And much more. As you can see, Dr. Edward de Bono is very qualified and extremely educated.

The de Bono Hats system or the “Six Thinking Hats” is a thinking tool for individual thinking and group discussion. It provides people with information which lets groups think together more effectively and to show thinking processes in a detailed way. This method is the subject of Dr. de Bono’s book, Six Thinking Hats.

Each “hat” has a specific color which describes the thinking process that they represent. White- Questions and Facts Red- Emotions and Feelings Black- Critical Judgment Yellow- Positive (Opposite of Black) Green- New Ideas Blue- The ‘Big Picture’
