Lab Report Helpful Hints

During the Lab O Write down all information: O Lab name, date of lab, etc. O Materials O Procedures O Observations O On your provided data/lab sheet or/ O In your lab notebook O This is were the meat of your lab report is coming from

During the Lab O Observations: O Include EVERYTHING on your notes during the lab! O The more your write down during the lab, the more information you will have for your lab. O You can’t remember everything, if it is written down you can refer back to it. O DATA SHEET: O YOU MUST HAVE IT ALL LABELED IF USING IT FOR THE DATA PORTION OF YOUR REPORT!

Introduction O Follow directions on rough draft O Cover all points to the fullest possibility O This is were all vocabulary should be included O Minimum of 1 paragraph, maximum of 2 paragraphs

Hypothesis O This is done before the lab O Research the point of the lab in order to have a justification for your hypothesis O NO O BELIEVE O THINK O PREDICTED (past tense, predict)

Procedures O Just list the procedures step by step O NO: O I, we, next, then O You are listing so that someone else can duplicate the lab from your report

Data O If you are including the data sheet from the actual lab, make sure: O All information is on it O You have labeled EVERYTHING! O It is printed correctly on your lab report

Narrative of Data O Only what happened, what you observed during the entire lab. From beginning to end. O NO: O Procedures O analysis

Conclusion O Follow directions completely from your rough draft! O Support with evidence from the lab. Right or wrong. Cite the evidence in detail. NO PROCEDURES The ending should tie it all together in the last 1 to 2 sentences. Just like a conclusion for any type of paper.
