3 Absolute Monarchy Predict: Based on these pictures, how do you think an Absolute Monarch rules a nation?

4 Absolute Monarchy Power is held by a king or queen There are no limits on his/her power Power is achieved through heredity A person must be born into the position There is no citizen participation

5 Constitutional Monarchy Power is held by a king/queen AND a Legislative Branch Powers are limited by a Constitution and Laws The royal position is based on heredity; members of the Legislature are either elected by the people or appointed by the king/queen There is some citizen participation

7 Parliamentary Democracy Power is held by the people Powers are limited by the Constitution and Laws Holding Power: the Legislature is elected by the people The Prime Minister is elected by the Legislature There is a high level of citizen participation, but the people are removed from choosing the leader (P.M.)
