10 Law which creates a special regime for persons born in Dominican soil, illegally registered in the Dominican Civil Registration and on Naturalization (Law169-14, Decree 250-14 and Law 520-14)

11 Law No. 169-14, Decree 250-14 and Law 520-14 A. Creates a special regime in benefit of children of foreign parents who are non-residents, born in Dominican soil in the period comprising June 19th 1929 to April 18th 2007, registered in the Dominican Civil Registration Books. B. Establishes a Registration of children born to foreign parents with illegal immigrant status, born in the Dominican Republic and not registered in the Civil Registration Book.

12  B) Born in the D.R., children from parents under illegal immigrant status not registered in the Civil Registration.

13 Conditions:  1- To have been born in Dominican soil prior to April 18th 2007  2- Submit one of the following:  Proof of birth in a public hospital or private medical center, which states the name of the mother, gender of the child and date of birth.  Act of notoriety signed by a notary public, and signed by seven witnesses, all of them working Dominicans who state the date and place of birth, as well the name of the child and names of the parents.

14  Sworn affidavit before notary public by the midwife who delivered the child, indicating the date and place of birth, as well as the name of the mother.  Affidavit by notary public of Dominican family members in first or second degree who possess Dominican Republic national documentation.

15 Results:  Registration in the Foreign Registration Book  Obtain legal immigrant status  Access to Dominican citizenship after two years of regularization Process:  Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP) receives application  MIP grants no objection to registration in the Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) Foreign Registration Book  Foreigner receives legal immigrant status

16  A) Born in the D.R., children by parents with illegal immigrant status, registered in the Civil Registration Book  - Dominican Citizen  - Fraudulent registration, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) requests the courts to nullify the registration.
