4 To give support to the female contribution to development, and help to alleviate poverty by improving and increasing the productivity and employment opportunities of low- income women in the region General objective

5  Boosting the quality, relevance and gender equity of technical-vocational education in the region.  Bringing about favourable conditions for equal participation by women in technical- vocational training.  Matching training supply to current demands of labour markets.  Raising the technical level of women and widening the range of training their options.  Disseminating the models and methodologies developed throughout the region. 6 The programme’s strategy Acting simultaneously upon the logic of mainstreaming the gender perspective and adopting specific measures Incorporating the gender perspective into processes of organisational and methodological innovation in the design and management of vocational training Developing a comprehensive and systemic approach and a participative methodology and ethics for the collective building of knowledge nationally internationaly

7 The programme’s strategy Including monitoring, systematisation and the dissemination of methodologies and lessons learned as a a priority objective of the Programme The promotion of social dialogue The role of CINTERFOR/ILO feedback with the Centre’s other programmes and activities interaction with ILO Departments networks among international specialists, institutions and organisations.

8 FORMUJER products: Transferral to T.I. of a comprehensive methodological package –divised with gender slant- built around the objetive of improving the employability of persons, by promoting in then a capacity to formulate a viable training and employment project. Implementation of training activities that apply this training package Increasing female participation Very specially at promoting low income women

9  Development of activities for interrelation and cooperation with the private sector :  Determination of needs and up- dating profiles  Achievement of internships and periods of practice at firms t Information system on labour supply and demand  Elaboration of didactic resources and activities to promote awareness and training. RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PRODUCTIVE SECTOR

10 DEVELOPMENT OF CURRICULA AND DIDACTIC MATERIALS Design, review and updating of curricula Training based on competencies. Instructive modules and their didactic materials Employability Citizenship Training and awareness of teaching staff and directors

11 Developing a Vocational and Occupational Guidance System por women and men Developing a communication strategy with includes a campaign throug all the media

12 Delivery of 200 technical- vocational training courses Mixed courses with a theoric phase and labour practice, allowing the training of approx. 4000 women in selected specialities. Regional collaboration through progress and development of curricula in specific sectors in accordance with institutional strengths. EXECUTION OF PILOT PROGRAMMES

13 Sinergies, collaboration and disposition of strategies, experiences, materials in pursuit of equal opportunities Workshops, Seminars, Networks, Web page, Publications, Bulletins, Regional research Regional dissemination Regional dissemination

14 Monitoring and Evaluation System Modern monitoring, follow-up and evaluation system with new, more sensitive and efficient indicators Methodologies of evaluation for the assessment and recapture of good practices for women´s training programmes.

15 Why train for employability? Employability is connected with different kinds of processes: structural, normative and cultural ones, but it also depends on personal factors Employability seen from the training angle: prioritising the cultural and personal aspects over which people can exercise more control Employability as personal development and social integration

16 What do we mean by ‘training for employability’? Development of key competencies to prevent the risk of obsolescence and stay productive along life. Complex apprenticeship: learning to learn, learning to be and learning to do. Identifying inside and outside barriers and appraising skills and knowledge, as well as the demands and competencies required in the world of labour.

17 Relationship with himself/herself Relationshiop with others (family life, partaking of a broader social space) Relationship with the surrounding environment Why employability and citizenship? A citizen’s education (man or woman) coincides nowadays with his/her training. In both cases every human being must act upon the three fundamental dimensions for the development of his/her life, namely:
