 Official Definition Mosaic is a program that consists of projects that empowers individuals to be agents of change, reach out, and involve as many people as possible. Each project is based on CISV’s educational content and is developed by local chapters worldwide.

 Occurs Locally  Meets a need of the community  Works within the chapters available resources(money, members, time, length of project, etc)  Strives to work with an NGO/LMO  Has an educational purpose  Has well-defined goals(DUC) and ways to reach those goals (ASK)…see completed proposal forms  Has a completed and approved proposal form from the IMC (International Mosaic Committee) before the project’s start date  Has all staff trained by National Mosaic Trainers(Trainers will be ready after April 13, 2008)  Has a completed project report submitted to the IMC after the project ends

1. Chapter member(s) decide ‘Let’s Do A Mosaic Project’ 2. Come up with an idea based on community and chapter needs and resources 3. Download proposal form (use the proposal to flush out and define your idea) 4. Contact the National Mosaic Chair(US) 5. Choose program coordinator/staff

6. Work on completing proposal—Your program coordinator and the National Mosaic Chair 7. Have staff and coordinator trained by National Mosaic Trainers and eventually (2009) by National Leadership Training 8. Send in finished proposal to the IMC by proposal due date 9. Receive approval status 10. Do Mosaic Program 11. Turn in final report to the IMC

 Provide trainer’s training worldwide, provides all support to the project pool to work towards 100% approved projects  Project Pool—Tentative list of projects for the coming year  Support and Development Regional Trial Program

 Discover--What is the issue/topic ‘ You Discover what it is you want the project to be’  Understand--The issue/topic better ‘You do things to help better Understand what the issue is, who it affects, and what can be done to accomplish this better Understanding’  Create-- A behavior to take what is learned about the issue/topic ‘ You Create a behavior set of skills, something intangible and/or tangible that the participants can apply to their everyday lives’

 Discover --Why do we need the Village program? Goal—Let’s create a program for 11 year old children to help them begin to change their cultural perspectives  Understand --What techniques do we use the to reach the above goal? Goal—We will do activities like teambuilding, trust, and simulation to help the delegates to begin to change their cultural perspectives  Create --What do the participants receive (intangible/tangible) to help them take what they have learned and use it in their everyday lives Goal—The participants will gain an international network of friends, peace/conflict theories, and intimate experiences they will refer to and use in their everyday lives to make them true global citizens

 This is the most important component to grasp for making something a true Mosaic project.  We need to know and verify how the change we hoped to have made in the participants has occurred or not.  Follow Up! Follow Up! Follow Up!

Mosaic is new and as such requires patience and a lot of hard work in the beginning to get the ball rolling for each chapter. The rewards and satisfaction are limitless and we on your Mosaic Committee are committed to doing all we can to help you make your Mosaic ideas become a Mosaic reality!!
