Mark 10:32-34 They were on the road going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking on ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were fearful. And again He took the twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to Him, saying, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles. "They will mock Him and spit on Him, and scourge Him and kill Him, and three days later He will rise again."

Mark 11:1-2 As they approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples, and said to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.

And many spread their coats in the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting: "Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David; Hosanna in the highest!" Jesus entered Jerusalem and came into the temple; and after looking around at everything, He left for Bethany with the twelve, since it was already late. Mark 11:8-11

Mark 11:15,18-19 Then they came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves; … The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching. When evening came, they would go out of the city.

Mark 11:27-28 They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him, and began saying to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?"

Mark 12:41-42 And He sat down opposite the treasury, and began observing how the people were putting money into the treasury; and many rich people were putting in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which amount to a cent.

"Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined. "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.“ (Daniel 9:24-27)

In relation to the end times… Israel was prophesied to be reconstituted as a political state. As indicated in Daniel 9:27, Israel will enter into a covenant with a Gentile Roman ruler of the Mediterranean, a covenant planned for seven years. The covenant with Israel will be broken after 3 ½ years, and Israel will become a persecuted people. Israel’s glorious restoration in the millennium will follow the second coming of Christ.

“To snatch up” 1 Corinthians 15:51-53: “Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.”

1 Thessalonians 4:13-17: “ But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.”

What’s going to be going on? Three major periods:  The period of preparation  The period of peace  The period of persecution

The period of preparation  The professing church will remain on earth after the rapture. (Rev. 17)  For Israel, it will be a time of revival. (Rom. 11:25)  Politically in relation to the Gentiles, the ancient Roman Empire will be revived. (Dan. 2, 7:7, Rev. 13)

The period of peace  Middle eastern dictator will make a covenant with Israel to last for 7 years (Dan. 9:26-27)  World church will continue to grow in power  Temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem; Jews will again offer sacrifices according to Mosaic Law. (Dan 9:27, 12:11)  Israel will be attacked (Ezekiel 38-39)

The period of persecution  Middle eastern dictator will seize political, economic, and religious control of the world (Rev 13:7, Dan 7:23)  He breaks his covenant with Israel, thus beginning the time of “Jacob’s trouble” (Jer 30:7, Dan 12:1, Mt 24:21)  Temple Sacrifices stopped (Dan 9:27, 12:11, Mt 24:15)  Israel will flee to mountains (Mt 24:16-20)  Thousands of Jews will be killed (Zech 13:8)

The period of persecution  Idol of world ruler will be set up in Temple (Rev 13:15)  Ruler will sit in Temple to be worshipped (2 Thess 2:4)  Ruler will set himself up as God, to be worshipped on fear of death (Rev 13:8, 15)  World-wide revolution and war result in response to disorder (Dan 11:40-45, Rev 9:13-21, 16:13-21)  Jesus returns to establish His millennial kingdom
