CAMPUS SECURITY AUTHORITIES  Officials with significant responsibility for student and campus activities - Examples – Student Advocate, Faculty Advisors to Student Clubs, Faculty Advisors for Academic Programs, Student Government Association Officers, Housing Coordinator, Resident Advisors, Security Officers, Behavioral Intervention Team, to name a few….  What does this mean for GBC? Almost all faculty and staff may be considered a Campus Security Authority.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy is the Crime awareness and Campus Security Act, aka Clery Act ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1990 Clery Act --Annual reporting of Crime Statistics: Homicide, Sex Offenses, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, Arson 2008 Amendments protect crime victims, “whistleblowers,” and others from retaliation.  2013 Campus SaVE Act(Sexual Violence Elimination Act) & VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) adds:  Domestic Violence  Dating Violence  Stalking

7. IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE DIRECTOR OF SECURITY OR VICE PRESIDENT FOR STUDENT SERVICES. WE WILL:  INVESTIGATE  TAKE PROMPT EFFECTIVE ACTION  REMEDY THE EFFECTS  TAKE ACTION TO REASONABLY PREVENT THE RECURRENCE; AND DO SO IN A PROMPT, EQUITABLE AND EFFECTIVE MANNER

DEPENDING ON REPORT, A DETERMINATION IS MADE…  IS IT A CRIMINAL OFFENSE?  HAVE SUPPORT & RESOURCES BEEN OFFERED?  DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE TIMELY WARNINGS OR EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION ?  IS IT A CODE VIOLATION WITH POSSIBLE SANCTIONS?  WAS IT MOTIVATED BY RACE, ETHNICITY, DISABILITY, GENDER IDENTITY, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, SEXUAL ORIENTATION?
