Aims of the Residential to provide memorable and challenging opportunities for your children to develop independence, self confidence and responsibility to help your children to develop a better understanding of the French culture To allow them to experience ‘really’ living in a foreign country (as opposed to going on holiday there) to have fun!

Staffing To be decided, depending on numbers, but the party will be led by Mrs Evans from Doddi with the support of Mrs Elworthy (who went last time)

The Journey We will complete the majority of the trip using public transport.

Travel there Exeter St David’s to Portsmouth Portsmouth - Caen

Health and Safety The safety and well being of your children will be the priority at all times Host families will be selected by the experienced twinning association leader in France English adults will be on hand throughout the stay Good preparation High adult: child ratio

Possible Itinerary Saturday 6th June Leave EXD 09:26 Arrive Portsmouth Harbour (2 changes) 12:52 Ferry 14:45 to 21:30 Tuesday 9 th June Ferry 08:30 to 13:15 Train

Probable cost will be around £100 per pupil.

Provisional Kit List (NB to be confirmed nearer the time) 1. Small rucksack containing.... Lunch box (and lunch!) Unbreakable, resealable drinks container (containing a drink!) (Optional – camera. Children will be responsible for their own cameras, so we suggest old or disposable ones.) Coat (preferably lightweight and waterproof)

2. Wheeled holdall / suitcase containing all other items Personal washbag (hairbrush, toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo etc) Sun cream Towel Flannels Pyjamas (or alternative nightwear) Dressing Gown Cuddly toy (only one each please) Crocs or flip flops…

T shirts – named -at least 2 (no strappy / vest tops please, in case of sunny weather) Trousers – named - at least 2pairs. Long shorts would be an acceptable alternative. Warm tops (eg fleeces, jumpers, sweatshirts) – named - at least 1 Underwear – named - a change for every day! Socks – at least 3 pairs Sun hat

Quiet activities (eg top trump cards, book, colouring book etc) (Optional – suitable sweets to share during the week eg individually wrapped) Carrier bag / bin liner for dirty clothes

spending money Disposable camera personal electronic equipment or electronic games Small gifts for host family members Passport (in date) EHIC card (in date)

Medicines Please see your Headteacher about medication. Prescription drugs can be administered during the week, provided that the relevant permission forms have been filled in. All medicines need to be handed to an accompanying adult on Saturday 6th June in a clearly labelled bag.
