What are the major organs of the respiratory system and their jobs? Information – The major organs of the respiratory system is the nasal cavity and oral cavity because they are the entrance for the outside air into the respiratory system. Paraphrase – The nasal cavity and the oral cavity lets air pass through the mouth nose and into the lungs.
3
Vocabulary – sinuses, nasal cavity, oral cavity, adenoids, tonsils, pharynx, epiglottis, larynx, esophagus, trachea, bronchi, pleura, diaphragm. Resource (Website)- www.k12station.com, and science textbook

Vocabulary Definitions Nasal Cavity (nose): is preferred entrance for outside air into the respiratory system. It is large filled up space near the nose. Oral Cavity (mouth): Air also enters through it. Adenoids- are overgrown lymph tissue at the top of the throat. It carries out fluid throughout the whole body. It also resist body infection. Tonsils- are important parts of the germ fighting. Pharynx (throat)- collects incoming air form the nose and passes it downward to the trachea (windpipe)
5
Vocabulary Definitions Epiglottis- is a flap of tissue that guards the entrance to the trachea Larynx (voice box): contains the vocal cords. It is the place where moving air being breathed in and out creating voices. Esophagus: is the passage leading from the mouth and throat to the stomach. Trachea (windpipe): the passage leading from the Pharynx to the lungs. Pleura are the two membranes, that surround each lobe of the lungs and separate the lungs from the chest wall.

What are the functions of the respiratory system? What do they do? How do they do it? Information – The parts are the nasal cavity, the mouth, larynx, pharynx, trachea, bronchial tubes, lungs, and diaphragm. The air, we breathe in travels down through the mouth, nose, trachea, lungs, and diaphragm. Oxygen goes in through the nose and mouth then the larynx and the trachea. The carbon releases to the alveoli.

Vocabulary Definitions Bronchioles: the bronchial tubes branch into smaller tubes. Cartilage: a flexible connective tissue. Capillaries: smallest blood vessels and are parts of microcirculation. Emphysema: a disease of the lungs. It makes you have shortness of breath. Pharyngitis: inflammation of the Pharynx

Why is your system important for survival? The Respiratory system is important to survival because it provides oxygen for the body’s cells and remove the carbon dioxide they produce. Oxygen is the most important energy source of cells. The Respiratory system is important to survival because it provides oxygen for the body’s cells and remove the carbon dioxide they produce.
