1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Objectives How could the Future Internet help to relieve the main problems affecting sustainability at planetary scale? Greenhouse gas emissions need to be drastically diminished during the coming decades European 20-20-20 objective: by 2020, 20% increase of energy efficiency 20% increase of renewable energy sources 20% reduction of CO2 emissions Sustainability of the Future Internet Focusing on the full life cycle of Internet equipment Future Internet for Sustainability Using Internet to increase sustainability in other sectors Multi-disciplinary approach taking into account the user User adoption: are energy-efficient technologies used? User behavior: potential vs. realistic energy savings WP8: JRA8 - Internet for Sustainability
