India's Goverment Style India's goverment style: Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic They have a parliamentary system of government. Assembly on 26 th November 1949 and came into force on 26 th January 1950. (Government)

How India Government Works "Parliament of the Union consists of the President and two Houses known as the Council of States (Rajya Sabha) and the House of the People (Lok Sabha)." They have a Concil and Prime Minister who because of their Consition helps advise the president on what to do. "President, who shall exercise his functions in accordance to the advice. The real executive power is thus vested in the Council of Ministers with the Prime Minister as its head." They have a govener of each state who is picked by the president. History Of India India's status as a country is fairly refined. Today they are gaining stability as a country, yet they still have many setbacks that slow them down. Major Events -> Current Status 1920-22: Mahatma Gandhi launched an anti-British civil disobedience campaign. -Large step towards independence. 1974: Explodes first nuclear device in underground test. -Join "nuclear community" and now able to defend themselves against other nuclear capable nations (Pakistan). 2000: India marks birth of its billionth citizen. -Population explosion has contributed to the large amounts of poverty and illiteracy which are the two largest problems that India faces today.
