10 echominnesota.org Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee ECHO’s Mission: to collaborate with diverse communities to deliver programs and services that help people be healthy, contribute and succeed ECHO’s Emergency Preparedness Advisory Committee provides: A liaison between ECHO and major public sector emergency response entities at the state and local levels, and local private sector stakeholders to provide for public/private sector alignment as ECHO’s capabilities mature and expand Support the communities we both serve by identifying grants for emergency preparedness & response priorities and other funding opportunities to leverage ECHO’s capabilities & relationships to reach these communities for emergency preparedness so that this resource can be used effectively for emergency response situations Committee members will continue to be the liaisons to their institutions, and will provide their perspectives, expertise and advice to ECHO’s Board of Directors and Executive Director on emergency preparedness programs and related community engagement activities

11 echominnesota.org Committee Member Expectations Identify and partner in opportunities to jointly serve communities with limited English proficiency – ECHO can be a resource to help reach these populations effectively Help your organization ensure project funding & success for emergency preparedness and response activities undertaken by ECHO in support of joint initiatives – Funding is currently a gating factor for ECHO engagement, a situation we don’t see changing until our development programs begin to bear fruit in 2013 Be the point of contact for opportunities that impact these communities but are more preventative in nature – e.g. HHS Grants for hospitals & community health centers & CDC grants for disease awareness (HIV, etc) often include a LEP outreach – ECHO can partner with your organizations to provide cultural context and better reach into our local communities Provide feedback on ECHO Emergency Response materials, including the EOP/FOG material, exercise opportunities Ratify Committee Description and Responsibilities
