East Jackson Middle School Discipline Flow Chart Observe Problem Behavior Decide whether the problem behavior is minor or major infraction, and follow the steps corresponding to each type of infraction Classroom Management Steps During the Same Period: 1. Address inappropriate behavior by acknowledging student(s) demonstrating the appropriate behavior 2. Refer back to GRIP with student 3. Call response team (team member will re-teach expectation) *Exhaust these steps before starting log process Behavior Log Steps: 1. Parent signature on EJMS discipline log, re-teach behavior 2. Parent contact (phone call/email) and signature on discipline log, re-teach behavior 3. Teacher detention from 3:45- 4:30, parent signature on log sheet 4. Office referral issued for this infraction and any further Minor Behaviors: Not complying to GRIP expectations and rules Minor disruptions/Disrespect Not following directions Tardies Out-of-area Dress code violations Major Behaviors: Major disruptions/Disrespect Bullying/Harrassment Physical aggression Skipping class Giving false information Property destruction Tabacco/Alcohol/Drugs Theft Technology violations Weapons/Arson/Bomb threats (Any safety issue!) Repeated minor infractions Office Managed Steps: 1. Administrative detention from 3:45-5:00 to complete a re- teaching course 2.Class isolation 3. ISS or Saturday school 4. ISS/Parent conference 5. Any student receiving more than 4 office referrals will have an individualized behavior plan created. Individual consequences will be assigned for referrals 5-9. 6.10 referrals leads to a meeting with superintendent.
