CIITS Continuous Instructional Improvement Technology System
6
Built in Modules IC connections into CIITS via teacher/admin email address IC must have the teacher emails correctly with defined role in order for information to roll up correctly into CIITS Rollup to CIITS occurs each Sunday so as students are added/drop from rosters, new students, teacher changes – all updates happen once a week on Sunday
7
Additional Modules CITTS with Common Core CITTS with Discovery Education and SAS in Schools – more resources coming via a vetting process http://www.sascurriculumpathways.com/portal/trainin g/index.jsf http://www.sascurriculumpathways.com/portal/trainin g/index.jsf SAS in Schools reference both common core and Program of Studies – let’s discuss CITTS with ASSESS Item Bank (formative) from Pearson CITTS with interval assessment (MAP) for now, others like PAS, Study Island will come later
8
Additional Modules CITTS with End of Course, Plan, Explore, ACT, 3-8, etc CITTS with effective teacher, leader CITTS with PD module to reference learning when indicated via teacher rubric
9
Pilots underway Approximately 15 districts are piloting CITTS in some way….few teachers at different levels Training last week on using ASSESS Each of you need to work with your IC person to get a login and access to CIITS via some role (just for your learning) Examine standards, examine rosters with teachers, look at resources and how they are aligned
10
ASSESS Module Classroom assessments created using the item bank in CIITS Schedule and administer classroom assignment Access assessment results
11
Benefits of SchoolNet Classroom Assess Districts, schools, and teachers may create and administer assessments online using CIITS Teachers can use CIITS to – Create and administer their own items and assessments for formative purposes – Quickly assess what students know about a particular topic or standard
12
Online Testing Overview Create test Set timeline for test window Distribute usernames Tests administered to students online Score open responses Performance data available for analysis
13
Methods to Create Assessments Express Test – From deconstructed standard, lesson plan or other resource that covers the same standard – From within Assessment Admin on designated standards Manual Test – With items created as you build the test – With items made available in an Item Bank
14
Creating Items: Key Facts Types: multiple choice, gridded response, T/F, open response One subject, one right answer only in order to support reporting Alerts: help you build an error-free item
15
Using Images in Test Questions Import image file – copy/paste not supported Keep images small as best practice, both in file size and dimension If you wish to gather images all at once, create folder on local or network drive. Devol a file naming convention so you can easily locate the right image for each question The image icon opens your file chooser – choose your file, click open Best results is to resize before uploading
16
Passages in Tests Do not use Express Test method to create a test that includes a passage You can associate any question with a passage Once you create a passage, you can select and associate it with additional questions As best practice, create reading passages as text, not images. Resizing can make it difficult to read.
17
Schedule a Test Once test has no errors and has been marked “Ready for Scheduling”, you can assign a schedule to the test and identify online testing options for the test. – Should students have access to results immediately – What is the test administration start and end dates? When are scores due? – Online test passcode – Should test time be restricted to certain hours on certain days – Is this a timed test – Can students take the test outside of the schedule start/end date – What happens if something prevents the administration of the test as pre-determined – Want students to complete test outside school day
18
Dashboard If administering in classroom period, admin proctor can see progress of students. If green, student answered correctly If red, student answered incorrectly If grey, student has not yet answered the test
19
Open Response Scoring Teachers can score open response from within admin once student complete the questions Links to student usernames/passwords for test administration
20
Next Steps for CIITS Training Each region will have three days to offer a one day training. Each district can send three staff members Regional KE will work with CIITS staff to find training site with at least 28 work stations or individuals can bring laptop for training (would need robust wireless) Since Region 4 is long and narrow, would look for one to serve the lower districts and two to serve central and northern districts
21
Timing Pilots will go through the first of January and will be extended if needed to ensure accuracy of data uploads from IC January, more robust marketing of CIITS and training sessions scheduled
