1 Junior Planning Session I Class of 2008 Wednesday, January 31, 2007

2 The SAT for the Class of 2008 begins in March of 2007. The test will consist of three parts, which are: Critical Reading: will include both short and long reading passages Math: includes up to Algebra 2 Writing: will consist of multiple-choice questions and an essay.

3 Know the Registration Deadlines! You can register two ways –Complete a Paper Application –Online Registration www.collegeboard.com **MHS has a limited number of paper applications, so try to register online if possible Mansfield High School is NOT a test site nor a registration center.

4 Spring SAT Test Dates and Registration Dates: Test Dates: –March 10th, May 5th & June 2nd Registration Deadlines: –February 2nd, March 29th & April 27th respectively

5 Do you need to take the SAT Subject Test? Check with each school where you will be applying about their specific policy regarding the SAT Subject Tests. The majority of schools requesting the SAT Subject Tests will be asking for either 2 or 3 subject tests.

6 SAT Preparation Guidance has the SAT Reasoning and the SAT Subject Test Practice Books Sign up for a local SAT Prep Service –NCAS –Kaplan –Princeton Review –Bridgewater State College’s SAT Prep Course –Evening Course at MHS possible for the Spring 2007 Visit the SAT Preparation center at www.collegeboard.com –Review daily sample problems –Review test-taking suggestions/strategies –Take practice tests –If you took PSATs this fall then you have an id & password to use PSATextra at www.collegeboard.com/PSATextra

7 Special Accommodations If you are on an IEP or have special accommodations, you may be eligible to take the SAT with extended time. See your counselor for more information.

8 ACT Test A different format than the SAT ACT Assessment –Covers English, Math, Reading, and Science. The entire test is multiple choice ACT Assessment Plus Writing –It is the same test as the ACT Assessment but it will include a writing sample. The Registration Bulletin for the ACT can be found in Guidance or online at ACT.org

9 Spring ACT Test Dates Test Dates: –February 10th, April 14th & June 9th Registration Deadlines: –January 5th, March 9th & May 4th respectively

10 SCORE REPORTING YOU the Student are responsible for contacting either the College Board or ACT in order to have your SAT or ACT scores officially sent to the colleges where you will be applying.

11 SENDING SCORES You have 3 options for sending scores through the College Board: the Internet (www.collegeboard.com) the Telephone by Mailing an additional score report form ***You MUST send scores officially from the College Board to the colleges you applying.
