Our Actions Open Us Up to Criticism

1 Timothy 5:11-14 11. But refuse to put younger widows on the list, for when they feel sensual desires in disregard of Christ, they want to get married, 12. thus incurring condemnation, because they have set aside their previous pledge. 13. At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention. 14. Therefore, I want younger widows to get married, bear children, keep house, and give the enemy no occasion for reproach;

Our Actions Open Us Up to Criticism They can bring reproach on the Lord’s body

Romans 2:17-24 But if you bear the name "Jew" and rely upon the Law and boast in God, 18. and know His will and approve the things that are essential, being instructed out of the Law, 19. and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, 20. a corrector of the foolish, a teacher of the immature, having in the Law the embodiment of knowledge and of the truth, 21. you, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that one shall not steal, do you steal? 22. You who say that one should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? 23. You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God? 24. For "THE NAME OF GOD IS BLASPHEMED AMONG THE GENTILES BECAUSE OF YOU," just as it is written.

12
Matthew 12:34-37 For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. 35. "The good man brings out of his good treasure what is good; and the evil man brings out of his evil treasure what is evil. 36. "But I tell you that every careless word that people speak, they shall give an accounting for it in the day of judgment. 37. "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Our heart is revealed to men Speech will reveal our heart
13
Matthew 15:18-20 But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. 19. "For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. 20. "These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man." Our heart is revealed to men Actions proceed from the heart
14
