1 Welcome to 5th Grade MRS. BLANTON'S HOMEROOM

2 About Mrs. Blanton  My initials are BCB (Belinda Caudill Blanton) or (Belinda Carole Blanton)  I turned 49 years old on May 23rd  I grew up in Paintsville, Kentucky which is in Eastern Kentucky.  I went to Oil Springs Elementary, K-8.  I graduated from Johnson Central High School in 1984  I graduated from U.K. in 1988 with a degree in Middle School Math and Social Studies Education  I received my masters from U.K. in 1995 with a masters in Middle School Social Studies Education.

3 More about Mrs. B.  I started teaching in Johnson County in 1988.  I married Scott Blanton in 1989; he began working at Georgetown's Toyota plant in 1990.  After teaching 2.5 years in my hometown, I moved with Scott to Lexington.  I have taught in Johnson, Fayette, and Harrison Counties.  Scott and I have three children: Joey, 24; Hunter, 21; and Wynter Hope, 10.  We have lived in the Leesburg community for almost 22 years.

4 More About Mrs. B.  Joey graduated from Morehead State University in 2013 with a degree in Computer Programing. He has been living and working in Cincinnati, Ohio since August of that year. He is engaged to Casey; they plan to get married in October, 2016.  Hunter is a senior at the University of Kentucky majoring in Physics and Math. He has spent this summer working 45 hours a week with robots in the U.K. physics lab and 5 hours a week at PBS in the virtual high school physics lab.  Wynter Hope is in 5th grade and she is part of the Town and Village Dance Studio's Honor Company. She spends more than 5 hours per week in Paris, KY in dance classes and rehearsals to get ready for competitions, recital, and other performances throughout the year.

5 Mrs. Blanton's PROCEDURES

6 Before 7:50 Follow the directions of Mrs. Smith or of the adult supervisor in the cafeteria/gym. At the direction of an adult, go to the restroom and get a drink. Mrs. Blanton will be there to pick you up A.S.A.P. Plan to go through the breakfast line every morning before entering the gym to be seated with your homeroom class.

7 * Empty your backpack and place it and your coat in your assigned locker. Everything else should be taken inside the classroom. 7:50

8 Morning Procedures To Do List Read T.V. Screen for itinerary and lunch choices Do Place green, take-home folder (with behavior calendar) inside your mail box. Morning Work worksheets Study notes Organize Homework- Is it finished? Folders Desk

9 Content Switches 8:20-9:20 5ASci.5B Math 10:15 - 11:10 5AS.S.5BRdg. 9:20- 10:15 5A Math 5BSci. 11:10 - 12:00 5ARdg.5BS.S.

10 Restroom Break Procedures *Girls will line up first, then boys. *Use the restroom in the gym before getting a drink in the hallway. *Line up in hallway outside gym doors *Remember walking/no talking. Level one (Whisper) while standing in line.

11 Restroom Break  The gym is Mr. Crisp's classroom.  You are NOT in P.E.  Girls should lead the class straight in to the gym to line up inside the restroom.  Stay at a level 1 inside the restroom.  Keep one foot on the floor at all times.

12 Restroom Break  Go to restroom before getting drink in hallway.  Get in, do your business, wash your hands, get drink, get in the back of the line.

13 Lunch Follow restroom break procedures as quickly as possible; remember to wash your hands. Line up outside the gym by lunch choice with Choice A first.

16 After Special 1:20-1:45 *Restroom Break *Get backpack from locker *Fill out agenda *Organize folders *Teacher Read Aloud/ Silent Reading 1:45- 2:00 *Recess

17 End of Day Procedures 2:00-3:00 Success Time  Take loaded back pack to locker/empty desk  Begins in September  Information and class assignments to be announced at a later time. 3:00 Homeroom/ Behavior Calendar Time 3:05 1st Bus/ Pick Up students names called 3:15 Bus Duty with 4th or 5th grade teacher.

18 End of Day Continued Before leaving for the day:  Desk should be empty  Group area should be neat and tidy  Stay in your assigned seat until your name is called or you are dismissed by the teacher  Chair should be stacked/ please stack any unused chair

19 Stop Work Bell 3:05 All students should sit in their assigned seat until they hear their name or until Mrs. Blanton dismisses them for their bell.

20 Social Studies As you enter the classroom, Pick up bell ringer/ daily work worksheet (s). These will be located on the cabinet to the left of the door. Kindly let Mrs. B. know, if these have not been placed on the cabinet.

21 Social Studies Monday - Thursday 1. Bell Ringer 2. Daily Work

22 Social Studies Homework Nightly:  Study (Memorize) weekly notes and vocabulary  Read independently for at least 15 minutes before bed time

23 Friday Assessments Most Fridays: *Weekly test over notes *Learning Response Journal Some Fridays: *District Common Assessment *Learning Response Journal
