2. Why are we learning this?  So that you know what options are out there when you need help.  So that when you start to live independently as an adult you can make the correct choices for your lifestyle.

3. What do I mean by “Resources”?  Resources- are things that you can access in order to fulfill your wants or needs.  For Example  knowledge, equipment, money, material assets, time, community organizing

4. Financial  savings, wages, investments or money earned in exchange for work done.  Personal

5. Personal Resources  things that affect/ help you make your choices every day.  People  family, friends, siblings, teachers  Services  Library and schools  Goods  sports equipment, furniture, computer, money  Facilities  Rec center, police station, and laundry

6. Personal Resources  If these resources are available to you, you must access them in order to benefit from them.

7. Needs  are things necessary for survival  Food  Clothing  Shelter

8. Wants  things that enhance one’s enjoyment but are not crucial for survival.

9. Values  the beliefs that a person feels are important; you’re guiding principles.  Do not have sex before marriage

10. Goals  ends or objectives that one plans or works towards.  To complete high school  One of the best resources is yourself.  Your:  Talents  Abilities  Interests  During the course of your life time you will grow and change.

11. LaunchingMarriageParents Middle Age Retirement Family Life Cycle  This is not true of every family as people may chose not to get married or have children or relationships end and a new blended step- family appears/  Personal resources often change- with the various stages of your life.
