Powers of Propaganda How pictures can influence.

Part One-Patriotism This group of posters promote patriotism, being strong & proud. The ideas are to encourage Americans to do their part to help the war effort.

Who is the audience? Young women What is the message of the poster? Secretaries needed. Everyone can help the war effort. The Miss America reference ties in being pretty with helping the war. What action do they want you to take after viewing the poster? Women will sign up to be stenographers.

Part Two-Fear This group of pictures are designed to produce fear. IF we don’t do something, we (Americans will be hurt).

Who is the audience? Christians, people who attend church. What is the message of the poster? If we don’t stop the Nazis they will take over & take away the Freedom of Religion. What action do they want you to take after viewing the poster? People will be motivated to sign up to fight and/or support the war effort.
