18. BCM Overview Annual Sponsored Research n NIH: ~$300M Awards on 1,000 submissions n Total: ~$400M Awards on 2,200 submissions n ranked 17 th in US (126 medical schools)

19. Applications n Applications are submitted from, and awarded to, an institution (e.g., Baylor College of Medicine) n Fellow and mentor are identified in the application n Fellow and mentor are identified in BRAIN, with fellow indicated as principal investigator (PI) in BRAIN

20. Applications n Don’t be disqualified - read and follow the sponsor’s rules regarding format, deadlines, eligibility, and how to apply n Plan – Notify Mentor and find out how much time needed for review – Notify Department and find out how much time to review
