Chapter P Review So, what do I need to remember from Precalculus and beyond?
2
Chapter P Review From the year of studying Geometry there are a handful of ideas and facts that I hope are in your brain somewhere. There will be a number of references to volume and area formulas during the year. Luckily for you, they are gathered on the last page on the inside back cover of your book. Additionally, we will be using language from Geometry early in the course when we talk about tangent lines and secant lines. You may want to brush up on those terms.

Chapter P Review From your Algebra years, I expect you to remember (at least) the following ideas and skills : Be fully comfortable with more than one line equation form Be comfortable with quadratics (finding roots ( x -intercepts), finding vertices, completing the square) Be aware of the general behavior patterns for polynomial and rational functions (end behaviors, find roots, identify asymptotes) Be able to factor comfortably, be able to divide polynomials, be able to divide polynomials Know your laws of exponents and laws of logarithms
4
Chapter P Review From your year of Precalculus TRIGONOMETRY! Again, the inside cover of your book is an invaluable resource. This time it is the inside front cover of your book. There will be numerous references to our skills of solving right and non-right triangles. There will be references to unit circle values. There will be references to the Laws of Sine and Cosine. There will be references to basic trigonometric identities.
5
Chapter P Review Also from Precalculus we will need to remember the properties of the graphs of non-polynomial functions such as exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. Many of these facts are summarized in your book. Others might be found in your memories, your notes, or by asking questions in class.

Chapter P Review I assigned few problems from this chapter for textbook homework, but you might want further practice. So, I will put in our FirstClass folder an old test I wrote for Chapter P. This is a purely optional assignment, but you are welcome to complete it and ask me any questions you might have.
