Provide the prospects for growth and advancement in the career path for all OST employees, passing on valued skills and attributes GEMS will provide opportunities for hands-on group and individual training sessions to build confidence as leaders and team players Share your expertise with others and learn something from a co-worker Our program will help you distinguish your strengths and improve areas which may be weak or lacking Learn to speak the same “language” as your managers Preserve valuable knowledge when employees leave/retire INTRODUCTION

Computer Programming – FORTRAN, C++, GRADS, etc. Platforms – Unix, Linux, GIS Applications, Windows Management – Program, Project, Branch, general NWS overview Science – COMET courses, operational forecasting, marine & ocean, meteorology, systems engineering, etc. POSSIBLE TRAINING TOPICS

As with other training opportunities, employees should obtain their supervisors' written approval prior to attending All participants will need to take the mentoring training course – Date and Time: TBD Mentors and mentees need to agree on a curriculum and schedule – Time commitment estimate: ~1-2 hours per pay period – Additional time is at mentor/mentee discretion REQUIREMENTS
