3. Across the Country ●Saskatchewan, a “prairie territory” recorded lowest wheat prices of all time ●90% drop in incomes within 2 years ●Cities experienced heavy unemployment but had more diverse economies ●Maritime provinces were already in an economic decline ●Drought, grasshoppers, hail storms

Government Response ●PM King refused to acknowledge the economic crisis or provide jobs for the unemployed at first ●Established a minimum floor price for wheat ●Established a national unemployment insurance scheme ●World War 2 transitioned Canada into an economic boom and world power, free of British rule
