Disaster Promote CEOS DRM Pilots Demonstrate Recovery Observatory Lead a task force to prepare strategies for UN WCDRR in Sendai, March 2015 to position satellite-based DRR in HFA2 (2015-2025) o The working session “Earth observations to support national and local disaster-risk reduction initiatives” o CEOS exhibition Our goal is to position the role of EO in WCDRR/HFA2 which is once a decade opportunity to mainstream EO data use for DRR. 8 JAXA’s High Priority Areas

28 th Plenary session Tromsø, Norway 28-30 October 2014 Ocean Contribute to GEO Blue Planet through CEOS COVERAGE (CEOS Ocean Variables Enabling Research and Applications for GEO) Partnership with JAMSTEC and other ocean institutes Cooperate with CSIRO in the Blue Planet Symposium, which is planned in the week of May 25, 2015 in Cairns. Our goal is to promote space-ocean alliance and ocean information service in cooperation with major ocean institutes and other stakeholders. 9 JAXA’s High Priority Areas

28 th Plenary session Tromsø, Norway 28-30 October 2014 Report on Data Applications “Applications of Earth Observations from Space: Serving humanity, society, and industry” Develop a CEOS Special Report on Data Applications as one of its CEOS Chairmanship initiatives for 2015 covering; Evolution of EO capabilities and data policies Successful application cases and why they are successful Different business models (inc. new models using free data) Stakeholder benefits (govt, public, industry) This goal is to provide unequivocal evidence of value and benefit of satellite data to the governments and international organizations to secure their supports for funding of the program. 10 JAXA’s High Priority Areas
