National Incident Management System (NIMS) Allows governmental, private-sector, and nongovernmental agencies to work together Incident Command System (ICS) –Can be used at an incident of any type and size Incident Commander (IC) has three priorities: 1.Life safety 2.Incident stability 3.Property conservation 48-3

Incident Command System If you are first arriving unit, assume command Scene size-up Declare an MCI Request appropriate resources Choose the staging area Choose the treatment area(s) Coordinate with other agencies Continue command role until relieved 48-4

Incident Command System If you respond to an MCI where the ICS has been established: –Report to the command post –Identify the Incident Commander Identify yourself and your level of training –Follow directions given by the Incident Commander 48-5
