A tool that allows you to select through a free hand method › Unlike the marquee which defines the shape of your selection

Draws a selection beginning where you click with the mouse It follows the cursor as you drag your mouse › If you let go of the cursor, PS will automatically finish your selection with a straight line from where you stopped to the point at which you started

When you are using any of the lasso tools to select, make sure to ZOOM IN as much as possible › Also use your add to and subtract from selection options!

Same selection options as the regular lasso tool Creates only SINGLE STRAIGHT LINES Click mouse to change directions and add new line

To complete a selection: › A small circle appears at the lower left corner of the lasso tool when you hover over the starting point of your selection › Click when you see that point

Another way to complete a selection: › When you are at a point that you want to finish your selection › Hit enter or return

What type of selection or activity might you need the polygonal lasso to complete?

Works by finding the edges of objects in an image › Works well ONLY if the area you want to select is high contrast › Creates selection at meeting of two colors

Fastening points: › Created as you select › Hold the selection border in place › You can press “delete” if fastening point is incorrect

Fastening points: › You can click to create your own fastening points › Can go off path at curves

You can complete the selection by clicking at the start point You can also press enter or return
