2. Why Formation? How do the dimensions of Cura Personalis - as “I understand them” - play out in my experience with formational Opportunities for Faculty and staff? One of the things we as a CM team realized is there is an importance of continuing to understand Ignatian Spirituality and experience Ignatian Spirituality as an Ignatian Educator. Finding time for additional opportunities for growth

3. Formational Opportunities We are made for growth and communion with one another. As Ignatian Educators we need to Reflect and Discern the following truth: we are called to be Ignatian leaders, not only in the classroom, but in our everyday encounters with others. As formation chances occur do we seek them out readily or is it a challenge?

4. Various Formative (Retreat) Programs offered Ignatian Identity Faculty days of Reflection –How to implement activities and events for faculty formation –Ignatian Identity Committee: –8-10 members from a variety of backgrounds –(1 should be Jesuit Rector) (Members are invited to sit on committee) Chosen for specific characteristics –Committee Meetings: –1 time per month to plan 4 afternoons of Reflection –2-3 times before multiple day faculty retreats –Days of Formation (Examples) Faculty Retreats (Options) –2 day Annual Retreat at Montserrat at the beginning of the new year (January) –Optional Year (Retreat outside of Annual requirement at a Jesuit Institution)

Additional Retreat Offerings Two retreat offerings this summer at Jesuit: May 31st-June 4th –Individually directed –1/2 hour of prayer a day according to your schedule –Meet once with a director each day –Group orientation on 31st; group meeting for prayer/dinner on 4th June 26th-28th –Stronger group dynamic –All meet for conferences Friday afternoon, Saturday, and Sunday morn –Prayer on your own; group sharing sessions optional –Mass and meal Sunday afternoon –Optional meeting with director at any point An additional offering has been added. Space is limited, so it will be first sign-up, first served. Please use the same form to choose retreats you are interested in. Colorado Retreat- July 9-12: A faculty/staff retreat will be held in Del Norte, Colorado this summer from July 9-12. This four day retreat experience will include plenty of downtime to enjoy the peace of the Colorado mountains and scenery. You are welcome to bring your family to this retreat, and depending on interest, retreat talks/questions will be structured to fit those attending… even if that includes a mix of families and individuals. The cost of this retreat is simple – you are responsible for the cost of getting there and potentially a small fee for shared food. If you drive, it takes about 11-12 hours from Dallas. You can also contact Steve Koch for best places to fly into, but all flights include some drive time after landing (nearest airport 30 miles away). 8. Reflection questions As Pope Francis said, “Are we open to God’s surprises”? What has hindered you or others when formative chances have been made available? Additionally what was the outcome when you were open to new formation experiences? How might I as an individual reflect on spiritual formation opportunities and then begin to offer and facilitate said opportunities for others? What are some areas of growth I see both now and in the future which might lead me to be a better Ignatian leader?

10. The Mystery of the Church (1-8) We are the Church –Implications for pastoral theology? 1. Church is starting point 2. Church is called to act 3. “The world is my parish” The role of the Church, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to announce the Gospel of Jesus Christ, so all might have an opportunity to receive Christ.

11. The People of God (9-17) People on a calling and mission for God –We have an important calling, we must first witness through our own actions before going out and evangelizing others. –In our own spiritual journey and through growth we begin to minister and develop our communities, and this progress then allows us to go forth to larger areas of ministry.

12. The Laity (30-38) Participants in the mission of the church Life is to be lived as a vocation and we are called to be open to where God is in our everyday lives and work Called to act –Words and Deeds If we are to be the “Light for the nations” (LG) then we must first illuminate within. We must live out our Gospel calling allowing others to see Christ in us.

13. The Universal Call to Holiness in the Church (39-42) Religious (43-47) The key to holiness rests in the love of God Holiness is possible through God’s grace –The call to holiness is from Christ himself. It is the Holy Spirit who moves us closer to God’s holiness. Those called to a religious life are to be inspirational to others in society and live in a manner that leads others to God

The Eschatological Nature of the Pilgrim Church and Its Union with the Church in Heaven (48-51) Missionary Church” > “Church missionaries” –Joined with Christ in the Church and signed with the Holy Spirit "who is the pledge of our inheritance",(245) truly we are called and we are sons of God(246) but we have not yet appeared with Christ in glory,(247) in which we shall be like to God, since we shall see Him as He is.(248) –Presence and Proclamation –Christ, having been lifted up from the earth has drawn all to Himself.(239) Rising from the dead(240) He sent His life-giving Spirit upon His disciples and through Him has established His Body which is the Church as the universal sacrament of salvation. we are all travelling through time and place and on-the-way to the reign of God. We are to realize that we must live for the One who died for us if there is to be hope for us.
