1 Aim: What are the types of Mental Disorders and what are their symptoms?  Do Now: Take a look at page 109, how might you rate those stressors?  Remember Guest Speaker Tomorrow  HW due on Wednesday: Read Text pgs 135-138. Create a chart in your notebooks with five columns titled: Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Somatoform Disorders, Personality Disorders and Dissociative Disorders. In each column list the types of mental illnesses associated with each and write a one sentence description of the disorder.  Slides have been posted for test. 4 Types of Mental Disorders Organic Disorders: Caused by a physical problem that impairs brain functions either permanently or temporarily Degenerative Disorders: Progressive deterioration of tissue over several years Functional Disorders: Develop as a result of a person’s environment (childhood or stress) Symptoms include: Personality or mood changes Caused by Chemical Imbalance (temporary or permanent)
