According to US News, the high school graduation rate is up two straight years straight 78 percent. In another US News article, graduation rates may be slightly skewed due to the reporting of special education student graduation rates.*

5 Preaching to the choir Some graduating students attend four year programs and others attend two year programs and/or state or career technical schools. You know your students’ skills, academic level, and their abilities. You know your challenges when you walk into that classroom every day!

8 My Class Statistics 148 students
16% students with IEP, Individualized Education Plan (IQ is less than 70%) 47% students operating at a Limited scoring rate (Ohio Department of Education – student is scoring less than 30 percent on a standardize test) 1% English Limited Learner

9 More Statistics Mt. Healthy City Schools graduation rate was 89.2%* in 2009 – 2010. The percentage matriculating to a post-secondary education was 70%.

11 This is how we do it; end in mind! What is the lesson’s objective?

12 Build a potpourri of audio, video, and photos.
To create the following: Lesson introduction length is > 6 minutes. Lesson review length is > 5 minutes. I am absent and presenting at this conference length is 40 minutes and please take notes.

13 Know your audience Intervention – three (3) DVD’s or CD’s length
is > 3 minutes each. Bubble – one (1) this is the middle of the road student, length is > 4 minutes Challenge -- one (1) length is 3 – 6 minutes

Open WINDOWS LIVE MOVIE MAKER Click Title – Insert Title and adjust text box Click Home Tab Click Add Video or Photos Insert picture(s) Click Add Music Insert audio

16 Audio Instructions Open AUDACITY Begin recording Save as .aup file
Export as a wav file

17 Trouble Shooting Save audio as wmp or audacity or mp3 file or wav file. If it is voiceover Export as wav file. If it is music Export as mp3 file. Save video as Windows Live Movie Maker file. Save photographs as jpeg file.

18 Trouble Shooting Photographs may be taken from your Google free pictures online, use your cell phone or Big Lots inexpensive flip camera. When creating the project in Windows Live Movie Maker file and laying audio files on video or photographs – PLEASE REMEMBER to delete existing audio before inserting new audio.

19 How we disseminate the learning process is our gift to them.
All students have a gift and are gifted. It is up to you and me to bring out the gift and giftedness in each of our students. The gift that each student brings to us is how the student learns. How we disseminate the learning process is our gift to them.
