Primary Goals of Policy 1. Ensure all youth in district sponsored programs are protected from abuse and harassment 2. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth are properly screened and certified 3. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth are oriented with youth protection policies/procedures 4. Ensure all Rotarians working with youth have an understanding of abuse and harassment, and are familiar with reporting procedures

1. VOLUNTEER SCREENING AND CERTIFICATION Screening must be conducted on all volunteers who have a supervisory role or significant interaction with youth. Additionally, all district officials, committee chairs, club or district officers who may have a supervisory role or significant interaction with youth must be certified. Youth Policy Page 4

To become certified, the individual must: A. Complete and submit to a Background Check B. Meet Rotary International/District eligibility requirements for working with youth C. Participate in District or Club Youth Protection orientation or training D. Understand and comply with the District Youth Protection Policy Youth Policy Page 4

District Youth Protection Officer (DYPO) 1. Assist Clubs with youth protection issues 2. Monitor youth protection procedures 3. Track and maintain background checks 4. Maintain and monitor complaint procedures 5. Stay in contact with District Officials regarding youth protection issues, and related laws, regulations and policies Youth Policy Page 4

District Officer and Committee Chair Responsibilities 1. Inform committee members and club officers of the requirements of the Youth Protection Policy and promote compliance with the Youth Protection Policy 2. Certify to the District Governor annually of compliance with the District Youth Protection Policy (Appendix C) Youth Policy Page 3

New Policy Regarding Photographs And Media Publications 1. Waiver signed by student’s parent/guardian 2. Waivers can be disbursed with RYLA and Youth Exchange applications, and to Interact/Rotaract students at the beginning of the school year Youth Policy Appendix A
